The Pike County Veterans Association met at Bluff Springs camp ground yesterday. The association was opened by the singing of two or three hymns and a prayer by the chaplain. The following named Veterans were reported as having died since their last meeting: J.B. Bevil, J.C. Bullard, W.R. Howe, J.T. Beckham, Dollie Coleman, J.W. Reeves, A.H. Beal, Y.H. Carter, and J.T. Jones. Hon. C.L. Bartlett, of Macon, was introduced and ably discussed the cause of the late war. His address was a splendid one and was much appreciated by his hearers. A recess of an hour had for dinner, after which a committee on nominations was appointed and they recommended the re-election of all the old officers. The recommendation was adopted and the officers were reelected by acclamation. Captain Tip Harrison was then introduced. He delivered an eloquent address and was attentively listened to. He paid a glowing tribute to the unparalleled heroism of our Confederate soldiers both dead and living.
