A telegram from New Orleans states that Judge Duplane has decided that notes payable in Confederate money are worthless, and also mortgages given for Confederate money during the War. - Bulletin. Such may be the law in Louisiana, but it is not the law in Georgia. The late Convention of this State passed an ordinance declaring contracts made during the war, to be valid, and fixed the standard of payment at the gold value of Confederate money when the contract was made, if the contract was based on Confederate money; and when based upon the sale of property, then the value of the property in gold is to constitute the basis of settlement, and the late Legislature affirmed this ordinance.
