The Pike County Journal May 8, 1925

Mayor J.J. Slade of Zebulon has tightened down on the speeders through this 
city and says that the traffic and speed law must be obeyed a bit better in 
the future than it has in the past, and he is going to enforce this law and 
all speeders will be dealt with and fined. Now, Mr. Speeder, it will save you 
considerable time and money to take this as a warning and not exceed the limit 
when you are out riding. 

The mayor has also ordered that the marshal stop all speeders and make cases 
against them and to see that there are no cars making over 15 miles an hour.
