"Uncle" John Leak after a lifetime of more than 102 years has crossed the dark river and entered upon his reward.. He died last Friday the 8th inst. of dysentery and was buried in the Jordans Store community on the day following. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W.A. Brooks of Fayetteville. Mr. Leak had a great many warm friends and was to the last a most companionable gentleman. He was a member of the Baptist church. Fourteen years ago, "Uncle" John Leak was thought to have been at death's door. He sent to Zebulon and bought a burial suit. It was sold to him by Dr. C.F. Redding, and while not needed at the time, it performed the service for which it was purchased fourteen years later. (Transcribed 10/31/02 Lynn Cunningham)
