Zebulon, Pike Co., Ga., Friday March 1, 1895 J.F. Wilder Dead Jas. F. Wilder died at his home in Griffin last Sunday of fever. He had been ill with fever for several weeks. His body was brought to Zebulon on Monday for interment. The funeral sermon was preached to an immense congregation at the Baptist church by Rev. C.W. Oliver. Mr. Wilder was operating a blacksmith shop in Griffin at the time of his death. He was a former citizen of this place. While living here he won a warm place in the hearts of the people by his gentlemanly conduct and especially by his devotion to the sick. He was a good nurse and never tired of sitting patiently by the bedside of a sufferer. The death of such a man as Mr. Wilder is a great loss to any community. He leaves an invalid wife and five children. They will be helped along in life, however, by $2000 insurance which Mr. Wilder was prudent enough to carry on his life. To the bereaved relatives, The Journal extends heartiest sympathy. (Transcribed 11/2/02 Lynn Cunningham) Note: At East View Cemetery, Zebulon, Georgia: James F. Wilder, b. 16 Feb 1859, d. 24 Feb 1895
