Zebulon, Pike Co., Ga., Friday February 22, 1895 "Uncle" Jimmie Harper Dead The announcement carried in the above headline is sad news, but it can hardly surprise anyone. For "Uncle Jimmie" as everybody called him, was 90 years of age and in view of nature's laws, his death should have been expected almost at any time. Some few weeks ago he fell and sustained a small cut on the forehead. This wound, slight at the time, developed into a cancerous sore and at the time of death the skull was bare in a place about the size of a silver dollar. The funeral was conducted at his home near Weaver, Revs. E.K. Akin, S.R. England and A.B. Pope each making appropriate and feeling talks. The deceased has been a member of the M.E. church for over 60 years, and was one of the most pious men it has ever been our pleasure to know. He practiced strictly the religion he professed and everybody says, "He was one of the best old men I ever saw." He was buried at the Methodist church cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.
