Zebulon, Pike Co., Ga., Friday February 22, 1895

"Oh! what a shadow o'er the heart is flung,
When peals the requiem of the loved and young."

William, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Coggin, age 18 years, 9 mos. and 5
days, died at Hollonville Ga., February 16, 1895.

His last illness was severe and in a few days did its fearful work.
Death who loves a shining mask, would have plucked no sweeter flower
than William. Affectionate, with a smile and kind word for all, he won
the hearts of all who knew him. No wonder he was fondly called the
"light of home," and that deepest sorrow prevails since the light has
flown. The more we knew of him, the more we knew in his character to
love and admire. As the new year began, he lay down to rest, and the
soft gray shadows veiled his aching eyes. Sleep on, sweet William, we
would not awake thee; for "God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to
