Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Jan. 6, 1896 Since our last issue death has claimed one of our best-hearted citizens - Matthew Bernard. He had been quite ill before his death and dissolution, while sad, was not unexpected. The remains were laid to rest on the Horton premises near Beeks with Masonic honors. In Mr. Bernard, Pike loses one of her best citizens. (Transcribed 11/15/02 Lynn Cunningham)
