Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Jan. 17, 1896 The wife of Mr. Bud Pitts, living above Williamson on the plank road died very suddenly last Friday. Mr. Pitts had gone off to haul a load of wood. When he came back he found the house full of smoke and Mrs. Pitts lying partially under the bed, a corpse, with her clothing on fire. A bullet hole was found in her stomach and it is supposed that Mrs. Pitts, whose mind had been deranged for some months, committed suicide. (Transcribed 11/17/02 Lynn Cunningham)
