Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, May 15, 1896 At 12:20 o'clock last Tuesday afternoon Mr. [William] Nelms Burr, of Griffin, and teller of the City National bank, died at the residence of his father, President H.C. Burr, on Sixth Street. Mr. Burr was only 22 years of age but had held the responsible position for a long time and had the confidence of every official of the bank. Few young men could be more popular, and the untimely death is deeply deplored. He had been ill with kidney trouble for months and an operation was performed Sunday in the hope that it might effect a cure. (Transcribed 11/24/02 Lynn Cunningham)
