Ballard, 45 year-old Pike county farmer, he died Wednesday evening at Strickland Memorial hospital, Griffin, from injuries received when an automobile driven by a Griffin youth crashed into his wagon, were held Friday afternoon at the home. Rev. Chas. E. Hitt officiated and interment was in the family cemetery. The accident occurred Twin Oaks filling station on the Griffin road at 8 o'clock Wednesday night. Mr. Ballard was a prominent Pike county farmer, and was a native of this county. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Ballard, and a brother, W.P. Ballard, of Zebulon. FUNERAL HELD FOR MR. F.L. PITTS Funeral services for F.L. Pitts, prominent Williamson citizen, were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock form the late residence. Rev. Wilson Walker officiated and interment was in the Williamson Methodist church cemetery with Frank S. Pittman, funeral director, in charge. The deceased is survived by his widow, who was formerly Miss Estelle Ball, and eight children. His daughters are Mrs. F.L. Shivers, Griffin, and Misses Ruby, Martha and Coleen Pitts, of Williamson. His sons are Horace, Alton, Joe H. and Jesses Pitts, of Williamson. F.W. Stegar Buried Sunday Afternoon Funeral services for Mr. F.W. Stegar, 71 years of age, were held form the Baptist church Sunday afternoon with Rev. G.H. Bailey, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment took place in East View Cemetery. Mr. Stegar was one of Zebulon’s and Pike county’s citizens and had been confined to his bed since last April. He was a native of Pike county, having been born and reared near Zebulon. Moving here a number of years ago he continued to work to make the world better because of his having lived here. Besides his widow, who was Miss Betty Reeves, he is survived by one son, B.F. Stegar, of Atlanta, and one daughter, Mrs. R.F. Weems, of Sunnyside, and several grand-children. Joe Alexander Buried Wednesday Afternoon Mr. Joe Alexander, about 54 years of age died at his home near Lifsey Springs, Tuesday afternoon about two o’clock, after an illness of several months. Mr. Alexander was one of Pike county’s most favorably known farmers and his large number of friends regret his removel just in the prime of his life. Funeral services for Mr. Alexander were held form the Smyrna church Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment took place in the church yard.
