Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, December 6, 1907 Death of Mrs. D.P. Blade [sp] Mrs. Geneva Blake, wife of Mr. Peden Blake, died at her home in Concord early Wednesday morning of Bright’s disease. She had been in very feeble health for two years or more and for several months past her death has been expected to occur at any time, although she has only been seriously sick for the past few days. The deceased was forty years of age and was married to Mr. Blake in 1889. She was the oldest daughter of Rev. W.P. Hemphill. A prominent Presbyterian minister of this county who died in Griffin a year or so ago. In early life, Mrs. Blake united herself with the Presbyterian church and has remained a devoted and consecrated member. She was a most estimable woman and will be greatly missed by her friends and in her community where she did all the good she could. She was a devoted wife and mother and in these spheres her death is most grievous and her place irreparable. She leaves a husband and five children, namely, Eugene, Perrin, Wilton, Myrtle and Lucia, who have the tenderest sympathy of all in their loss. Their friends feel for them in this their saddest hour and in the hours to come. She also leaves several brothers and sisters to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Greer, of Thomaston, at Friendship church, near Pedenville, the church of which her father was pastor for a number of years, in the presence of a large number of friends who gathered to pay their last respects to their friend and noble woman. The interment took place in the church cemetery. The sorrowing husband and bereft children have the sincere sympathy of all.
