Beckham Dies Suddenly Mr. J.T. Beckham of Concord, died Wednesday of heart failure. He had not been in good health for several months and he had stated to his family and friends that they might expect to find him dead at any time. He was 98 years of age and an honored and highly respected citizen. He was a gallant confederate soldier, serving the full four years of the war. He had been a consistent member of the Methodist church practically all of his life and was a most excellent man in his community. He leaves a wife, seven children and several brothers to mourn his death. His sons are W.E., of Atlanta; J.E., of Macon; and J.H. and T.C. Beckham of Concord; his daughters are Mrs. R.C. Mathews and Misses Mattie and Marilu Beckham of Concord. The deceased was honored and respected by all who knew him. He was an excellent citizen and will be greatly missed in his community. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at three o’clock at the Methodist church in Concord and were conducted by Rev. T.S. Edwards, his pastor of Zebulon. A large gathering of friends were present as a mark of respect to his memory. The interment took place in the cemetery at old Salem near Concord.
