Connell Mr. Charles W. Connell, 77, of Williamson, Ga., died Sunday, December 17, 2000 at his residence. Mr. Connell was born in Spalding County but had lived his life in Hollonville, Ga. He was retired and had been the owner and operator of the E. B. Connell & Son Grocery Store for 50 years and Connell Cotton Gin and Warehouse for 30 years. He was a member and leader of the Administrative Board of the Hollonville Methodist Church, a member of the Hollonville Volunteer Fire Department, president of the Georgia Cotton Ginners Association, member of the Board of Georgia Crop Improvement Association, the Pike County Board of Education and a graduate of Gordon College. He also served during World War II in the U.S. Army with tours in Italy and North Africa. A funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. at Hollonville United Methodist Church in Hollonville, Ga. with the Rev. Charles Bennett and the Rev. Bryan Butler officiating. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery in Griffin, Ga. The family was receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Coggins Funeral Home, 321 Hannah's Mill Road in Thomaston, Ga. Surviving are his wife, Mary Cardell Connell of Williamson, Ga.; sons, Alan Connell, Thomaston, Ga., Dale Connell, Lakeland, Fla., Randy Connell, Newnan, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Jean Daniel, LaGrange, Ga.; nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hollonville Volunteer Fire Department or to the United Methodist Children's Home, c/o Thomaston First United Methodist Church, 132 Cherokee Road, Thomaston, Ga. 30286.
