He was born in North Carolina in 1774 and his father lived lived there until he was about ten years old and then moved to Elbert Co., Ga. He married Delilah Bullard. In 1805 they both joined the church by experience at Holly Springs in Elbert County, Ga. and were baptized by Dozier Thornton. In March 1812 his wife died and then he married Sarah Brown and in 1814 moved to Jasper Co., Ga. and joined the church at Concord and lived there till he was ordained a deacon and served the church till 1825, then he moved to Pike Co., Ga. where he and his wife were two of the constituting members of Sardis Church and he lived there till about the time of the split with the Missionaries and Primitives and then he took a letter and joined the church at Harmony and lived in good order until his death. His disease was an affection of the kidneys and old age. He left a great many children and grandchildren, but he lived to see most of his children join the church.
