Zebulon, GA., Tuesday, May 21, 1889

Concord

Concord, May 16 - Died near here on the evening of the 9th inst., Mrs.
M.E. Cochran, age 55 years. In early life she attached herself to the
Presbyterian church and adorned her profession by an upright walk and a
godly conversation, and is doubtless today on the other side of the
river resting under the shade. Mrs. Cochran did not fear death but often
expressed a willingness to die. She said she was willing and waiting for
the Master's call to meet him in the skies where consumption and
emaciation are unknown. For several months preceding her death she was
kindly cared for by her devoted and only son, her sisters and brothers.
The deceased leaves an aged father, two sisters and three brothers to
mourn her loss. A large crowd attended her interment at Friendship
church. The funeral was preached by Rev. Dr. Dubose and assisted by
Revs. Peden and Hemphill. It was the good fortune of the writer to have
known the deceased for near forty years, and always knew her to be kind,
charitable and Christian like. That we all emulate her good example, is
the wish of her devoted friends. - J.A.W.
