Foster, at Concord, yesterday, when the school dormitory was burned. He was a popular citizen and a fine teacher. The Middle Georgia institute, of which he was principal, is one of the best and most successful schools in Pike, that community priding itself on the school. Professor Foster was endeavoring to get his library from the burning building, thus giving his life for his books. His death is greatly deplored throughout the county. He leaves a wife, who was Miss Searls, of Lumpkin. The loss on account of the fire, above the insurance, is about $3,000.
