Mrs. Martha Green Goes to Reward

Mrs. Martha J. Green, 86, widow of the late Judge James Green, of Upson 
county, died Wednesday evening at 6:30 in Thomaston. Mrs. Green was well loved 
by the people of Zebulon and Pike county having made her home here with her 
nephew, Mr. J.N. Harp for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Green, before her marriage to Judge Green was Miss Martha Waller, and all 
through her life she has made and held friends easily, all of whom learned to 
love her dearly and are deeply grieved at her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Green were held from Zebulon Methodist church 
Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock with interment in the churchyard.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. W.A. Harp, and several nieces and nephews.


Additional Comments:

Martha [Mattie] Waller was Judge James W. Green's second wife. They were 
married (after the death of his first wife) on 30 June 1875 in Pike County. He 
died just a few months later on 24 December 1875.
