Green Mrs. Trumie Green died last Saturday morning at the home of her husband, Mr. H.L. Green, on Concord street. There has not been a sadder death here for a long time. A young wife and mother torn from her husband and son, seems hard, but it is only ours to bow submissively to the great God who is two good to be harsh, too wise to err, and too loving to be unkind. And so after this good woman had suffered, what only she and God knew, He gently touched her and said, 'It is enough, my daughter, come with me,' and she was ready to go. No woman ever had a more thoughtful, attentive and considerate husband, and though everything that skill could do was done, she was yet too tender and frail for this earth. Mrs. Green was a member of the Methodist church, and since early life she has been a faithful and devout Christian. The explicit faith she had in her Lord has kept her and sustained her through the sunshine and shadows of life, and only grew stronger and brighter as her departure approached. She was comforted with the assurance of the Divine Presence, and of a home in that city whose maker and builder is God. She leaves beside a grief-stricken husband and son, Walter, a mother, Mrs. S.E. Redding, a sister, Miss Irene Redding, both of Zebulon, two brothers, Mr. Ben Redding, of Waycross, and Mr. Fred Redding, of Greenville, Fla., to mourn her death. The interment was from the home Sunday afternoon, January 10, 1915, after a short funeral service, Revs. R. W. Rogers and J.W.R. Jenkins taking part with the pastor. A large number attended this funeral, and as the casket laden with flowers was consigned to the grave, we could only dash the tears from our eyes and look by faith to the glorious future for all the good, and pray God's richest blessing upon the bereaved hearts Her pastor, J.W. King. Additional Comments: Trumie Redding Green was the first wife of Hartford Lafayette Green. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
