Pitts Spalding county officers today were searching for the hit and run driver of an automobile which early Sunday night killed J.R. Pitts, 57-year old Spalding farmer, as he walked across the highway near his farm five miles from Griffin on the Zebulon Road. Officers said today that apparently there were no witnesses to the accident other than the driver of the automobile which struck Pitts and sped on after the accident. At a coroner's inquest held at the Pittman Funeral home this morning at 10 o'clock, the jury declared that Pitts was killed by an automobile , the driver of which is unknown. Coroner W.J.
