Scott Dies After Short Illness Appendicitis Proves Fatal To Well Known Hollonville Citizen Widespread sorrow was caused by the announcement that Olin P. Scott of Hollonville, one of Pike County's most progressive farmers, had succumbed to appendicitis last Saturday. Mr. Scott became ill Wednesday and was taken to the Griffin Hospital where an operation was performed Wednesday night, but in spite of all that medical skill could do for him death resulted at 2 'oclock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Scott was only 35 years old but was one of the most popular men in the county and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Scott. He is survived by his wife and five children, the youngest of whom is only two weeks old. Mrs. Scott, before her marriage, was Miss Maude Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marsh S. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is dead but Mr. Johnson has been making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Scott for sometime. Other surviving relatives of Mr. Scott are two sisters, Mrs. D. S. Allen of Zebulon, and Mrs. C. M. Anderson of Zetella, and two brothers, R. E. Scott and C. W. Scott. Mr. Scott was one of the most active members of the Methodist church at Hollonville and the funeral services, which were held from the home at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, were conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Mr. Pharr, assisted by Rev. Mr. Jones of Concord, and Rev. Mr. Brown of Woolsey. Interment was in the cemetery at Hollonville. Both the Scott and the Johnson families are widely known and have furnished this county some of the most highly respected and most progressive citizens and they have a host of friends who extend to them their sincerest sympathy in their bereavement. Additional Comments: Olin's parents are William S and Martha Huckaby Scott and his grandparents are Robert and Mary Coggin Scott. Maude's parents are Marshal S and Lillie Johnson and her grandparents are Handy W and Frances McNeeley Johnson.
