Harper died at the home of her nephew, W.S. Ballard of near Zebulon, after a brief illness of four days. Passing away just as the day dawned last Friday morning. Mrs. Harper was reared in old Pike county and had many relatives and friends who will regret to hear of her death. She was the widow of the late Henry Harper and a sister of the late Powell, Robert, James P. And John Ballard, also a sister of Mrs. William Lynch and Mrs. William Hales, all deceased. She was the mother of J.H. Harper. Fourteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive her. [Transcribed 7/4/2007 Lynn Cunningham] Additional Comments: W.S. Ballard is Walter Scott Ballard.
