Fall Proves Fatal For Mrs. Holmes In Americus

Injuries Sustained Several Days Ago Result in Her Death; Was Formerly of Pike 
County

Americus, Ga., Jan. 11 - A fall sustained by Mrs. J.G. Holmes at her home on 
Forrest street several days ago has just resulted in her death. She was 93 
years of age and had resided here several years, coming to Americus from Pike 
county. The remains were sent yesterday to Columbus for interment. Surviving 
her are three sons, J.C. Crawford of Americus, Joe H. Holmes of Columbus and 
W.B. Holmes of Fort Gaines, besides a daughter, Mrs. C.R. Wise of Cuthbert, 
and a grandson, E.L. Crawford of Americus. [Transcribed 15 Mar 2008 Lynn

Additional Comments:

A daughter of William and Lucy Cross Pryor, Elizabeth was first married to 
Edmund Crawford on 21 December 1843 in Pike County. After his death, she was 
married to James G. Holmes on 22 February 1852 also in Pike.
