Two weeks previous to her death she was stricken with paralysis and every means possible were used to restore her to health again, but of now avail. She was 74 years, two months and 6 days old at the time of her death. She was born in Pike County, Ga. Aug 12th, 1858. She was married to Robert W. Horton, Dec. 7, 1881. To this union was born 7 children, five boys and two girls, two boys died in infancy. In 1889 she moved with her husband and children to Alabama and later on they located about 2 1-2 miles northwest of Logan. She spent the remainder of her days at this place. Many friends and loved ones were at her bedside with anxious hearts and willing hands to render every service possible. She was converted and joined the M. E. Church at Mt. Zion camp ground in Ga. when she was a young woman and she has lived a consecrated Christian these many years. After having moved near Logan she joined the M. E. Church South. at Bethel and it was from here she went to join the Church triumphantly on the other side of the River. She was one of the most highly esteeed and one of the best loved women of all that section of the country. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and devoted Christian. She is survived by her husband, R. W. Horton and five children, three boys and two girls, Wilbur Horton, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Glenn, William, Allie and Kate who are still at home, and Ola Hutchinson, a niece who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Horton (she is now Mrs. Murrine Moore). Funeral services were conducted Oct. 19 at 11:00 a. m. at Emaus, by her Pastor, Rev. J. W. Barber, assisted by Rev. J. P. McDermont, Rev. L. B. Headley and Rev. E. M. Dickerson. The body was laid to rest in the Emaus cemetery to await the call on the judgment morning that will awaken the slumbering saints to arise and meet the Lord in the air.
