Mr. B.A. Lifsey Dies

Mr. B.A. Lifsey died at his home in Barnesville last Thursday morning after a 
two weeks illness.

He was born March 19th 1846 near Lifsey Springs and has lived in Pike county 
all his life.

He was married to Mattie Carter in 1868 and to them were born eleven children, 
namely, Mrs. J.E. Slade, of Montezuma; W.V. Lifsey, of New York City; Mrs. 
J.J. Slade, of Zebulon; J.J. Lifsey of Ashburn; Fletcher and Calton Lifsey 
(deceased); Homer Lifsey, of New York City; Mrs. J.F. Pierce, of Barnesville; 
Freeman Lifsey, of Tucson, Arizona; Mrs. C.W. Hill, of Forsyth and Roy Lifsey, 
of Barnesville.

Mr. Lifsey united himself with Fincher’s church when a young man and moved his 
membership to the Barnesville church when he moved there several years ago. He 
lived near Lifsey Springs most of his life but several years ago moved to 
Barnesville where he served as postmaster for eight years, being succeeded in 
that position by his youngest child, Mr. Roy Lifsey who is now serving in that 
capacity.

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church in Barnesville of 
which he was a member Saturday conducted by his pastor, Rev. W.T. Hamby. Short 
talks eulogistic of the deceased were made by Revs. Dr. Morton and Yerger 
after which his remains were interred in the Barnesville Methodist cemetery.

He leaves a wife and nine children and other relatives, the friends of all 
whom extend them sympathy in their sorrow.
