Former Citizen of Pike County Dies

A gloom was cast over the entire town and community of Talbotton Tuesday night 
when it was learned that Mrs. J.D. Magouirt had passed away at her home here 
at 10 o’clock. Mrs. Mcgouirt had been in declining health for some time, 
though was not confined to her bed until a few hour prior to her death. Had 
she lived until the 20th of April she would have been 66 years old. She was 
born and reared in Pike county, near Zebulon, living here until nineteen years 
ago, when she moved to Talbotton where she has made her home since that time.

Mrs. Magouirt was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of the Methodist 
church.

The funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 4 
o’clock, conducted by her pastor, Dr. J.H. Jackson. Interment was made in Oak 
Hill cemetery.

Many beautiful floral offerings attributed to the love and esteem in which she 
was held.

She is survived by three children, Miss Ethel Magouirt and Mr. S.W. Magouirt 
of Talbotton, and Mrs. B.H. Cagle of Jacksonville, Fla. - Talbotton New Era

Mrs. Magouirt, before her marriage, was Miss Sarah E. Lifsey, daughter of the 
late J.S. Lifsey, of Pike county.

She is also survived by the following brothers ans sisters: B.N. Lifsey, T.A. 
Lifsey, Ed Lifsey, W.S.Lifsey, of Meansville; B.W. Lifsey, of Marshallville, 
and Mrs. Rilla Adams, of near Zebulon.

Her husband, J.D. Magouirt, was a half brother to G.B. Ridley and Owen Ridley, 
of Zebulon; Will Ridley, of Williamson and Carrie Wood, of Griffin.
