Maddox Kadillacmac08@att.net May 10, 2010, 8:48 pm Pike County Journal, April 1934 Mr. A.M. Mills Is Laid To Rest Impressive funeral services for Mr. Augustus M. Mills, who died at his home in Pike County, Thursday night, were held from the Midway Methodist Church on Friday morning at 11:00. Rev. Will Hines officiated. Internment was in the church yard, with Haisten Brothers funeral directors in charge. Pallbearers were A. A. Buchanan, W. A. Buchanan, Frank Davis, Harvey Wilson, Drewey Payne, and Billy Payne. Mr. Mills, who was 41 years of age, was one of the most prominent citizens in Pike County. He died after a week's illness with pneumonia. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mattie Mills; one daughter, Miss. Pauline Mills; three sons, Aubrey, Linwood, and Henry Mills; five sisters, Mrs. Francis Woody, Mrs. Betty Parker, and Mrs. Lizzie Salter, all of Griffin; Mrs. Fannie Ashley and Sally Mae Proctor, of Alabama; and three brothers, John T. Mills of Griffin; Zack Mills of Meansville; and Oscar Lee Mills of Georgia.
