Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, February 18, 1898 Mr. J.D. Gregg Dies Mr. J.D. Gregg who was well known and loved is dead. He has been in feeble health for a number of months and the announcement of his death is not a surprise. He was 63 years of age and during the confederate war he was one of the bravest and truest members of the 13th Ga., regiment. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death. Feb. 10, 1898 John Davis Gregg was married to Candis Coggin who was a daughter of Matthew Coggin and Martha Pryor. She was born 5 Nov. 1838 and died 23 May 1911. She is buried beside her husband at Coggin Family Cemetery. Company A, 13th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry Evans' Brigade, Gordon's Division Army of Northern Virginia C. S. A. Pike County, Georgia "Confederate Guards" - Gregg, J. D.- private May 4,1862. Captured at Spotsylvania, Va. May 12,1864. Paroled at Fort Delaware, Del. February 1865.
