Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, June 17, 1898 Mrs. G.A. Simmons Passes Away One of the saddest deaths we have yet recorded is that of Mrs. G.A. Simmons, which occurred at her home in this city last Saturday morning. She had been sick for only a few days and the announcement of her death was a shock to her numerous friends and relatives. At the time of her death, she was about thirty-five years of age. She was the youngest daughter of Judge Hartford Green. Mrs. Simmons has been a member of the M.E. church for a number of years, and was a true and noble Christian woman. She is survived by her husband, three children and a number of other relatives who have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral took place Sunday morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. M.M. Walraven. After Mr. Walraven’s remarks, Dr. C.F. Redding spoke many words of comfort to the grief-stricken family. The remains were interred in the Methodist cemetery by the side of her oldest child. Also: June 24, 1898 The infant child of Mr. G.A. Simmons died Sunday evening. The remains were buried Monday morning by the side of the mother, whose death occurred just one week prior to that of her baby.
