Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, November 18, 1898 Death of Mrs. D.H. Drake Saturday morning at 6:30 o’clock, at her home in Griffin, Mrs. Drake breathed her last. Several years ago, Mrs. Drake suffered a stroke of paralysis and since then has been entirely speechless. Mrs. Drake was born in Zebulon on May 13, 1843. Her father was Mr. George Reaves. She received her education in Griffin and at an early age was married to Mr. C.J. Drake, who was at that time a prominent contractor and afterwards the first president of the City National Bank, which position he held until the time of his death in 1885. Mrs. Drake never remarried. She leaves four children, who are well-known in Pike - Mrs. R.H. Drake, a prominent insurance man and grocer; Mr. J.E. Drake, bookkeeper and assistant cashier at the City National Bank; Mr. R.A. Drake, who is connected with his brother, R.H. Drake, and Mrs. W.E.H. Searcy, Jr. Mrs. Drake was a relative of Mrs. M.E. Green and Mrs. E.F. Dupree.
