Death of Mrs. J.R. Mangham

Mrs. Annie Mangham, daughter of Hon. T.J. Barrett and wife of J.R. Mangham was 
converted and joined the Methodist church at Fincher’s about five years ago. 
She lived a devoted consecrated life until God called her to her reward. Her 
death was so sudden as to seem almost fragile. Only a few hours of suffering, 
the end came. Her death was peaceful and triumphant. She stepped into the 
chariot which bore Elijah aloft and was borne in triumph to the home of love 
and glory. She was in every sense a most lovely character. Her life had been 
transformed and made beautiful by the religion of Jesus. That charity so 
beautifully described in the thirteenth of first Corinthians filled her heart 
and life. All who knew her were attracted by her gentleness of smile and 
sweetness of temper. With great sorrow, her husband, with whom she had lived in 
perfect felicity for a little more than two years, was called to follow her 
cold form to the grave. A large company of weeping relatives and friends 
attended the funeral services which were conducted by Rev. A.B. Pope, assisted 
by the pastor. To all the bereaved family, we tender our profoundest sympathy.

Annie was a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Barrett and Minerva Ann Slade.
