Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, September 21, 1900 An Obituary Mrs. Mary Ann Brewer O’Rear was born Oct 17th, 1825, and died at the home of her son Mr. J.B. O’Rear near Liberty Hill, Ga., Sept. 2nd, 1900. Sister O’Rear professed religion at a tender age and united with the Methodist church. Her rarely beautiful lips was proof of the genuineness of her faith, and the depth of her consecration to God. True to duty in all the walks of life, she was no less prompt in obeying her religious convictions. The experience of faith she enjoyed was deep and full, and each day came to her with sweeter tokens of the Divine favor, a consciousness of pardoned sin, united with a quiet feeling of fellowship with God, gave to her religious character a sweetness and beauty which will ever be remembered by her loved ones and friends. She was not presumptuous but loving and gentle, meek and lowly in spirit, modest and kind in disposition and conduct. The principles of faith were deeply rooted in her heart, and by this every action of her life was regulated and controlled. She was a devoted mother, a faithful friend, a kind neighbor, a consistent Christian and adorned the walks of life by practice of those virtues which constitute a true noble Christian womanhood. During her last illness she was resigned and submissive. Not a murmur escaped her lips. In the quiet of the Sabbath evening her happy spirit passed beyond the "Shining Hills." The end was peace and her reward was a crown of joy and rejoicing in heaven. Her body was tenderly laid to rest beside her husband in the cemetery at Liberty Hill, Ga. The rich heritage of a lovely Christian character she leaves her sorrowing children. God bless them in their grief. - G.W.
