In Memory of Mrs. J.L. Smith

Mrs. Mollie Glenn Smith, whose maiden name was Brown, was born in Henry county, 
Ga., June 21, 1859, and died in peace and triumph at her home in Pike county, 
Ga., Oct. 11th, 1900.

Sister Smith was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church South when 
she was quite young, and lived a true Christian all her life. She was an 
earnest, zealous and thoroughly consecrated woman. She, like the “Good 
Samaritan,” was already to administer to the suffering and needy.

As a neighbor and friend she was warmly and generously loved. As a wife she was 
fond and affectionate, the joy and pride of her husband’s heart and home. In 
her life were blended characteristics that will live on through the ages and to 
her family and friends her beautiful and unselfish life will ever be a sweet 
and cherished memory. For her is needed no monument of marble for she hath 
written for herself a memorial more enduring. “For the righteous shall be in 
everlasting remembrance.”

During the several months of her illness she was calm and trustful, bearing her 
severe suffering with great fortitude. She fully realized at the last that she 
must die and with perfect submission, met the king of terrors without fear. 
Many times she talked of her departure and the “Glory Land” at the end of the 
journey and calling the loved ones one by one she kissed them goodbye and bade 
them all to meet her in heaven.
