Halsey had been an invalid for the past four and a half years, his death was unexpected at the time and was a great shock to all. Funeral services were conducted at Ebenezer M.E. church Tuesday morning by his former pastor, Rev. R. W. Rogers, assisted by Rev. J. S. Thrailkill, Rev. Geo. Davis and Rev. Grover Knowles. Burial was in the church yard with R.H. Strickland in charge as funeral director. Mr. Halsey is survived by three children; Mrs. J. M. Means Mrs. O.C. Bell and Mrs. Asa Waller and 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Dingler, of Williamson. Mr. Halsey was a brave Confederate soldier and served during the Civil War in the 53rd Ga. Regiment. Brother Halsey was best known for his consistent Christian life. He joined Ebenezer church in 1869 and retained his membership there until his death. He was a steward and trustee of this church at his death and had been for more than 50 years. He was a good man in every sense of the word and his influence will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Yet, he leaves a goodly heritage that will live to bless his children and the people of this community.
