V. Allen, 77, died at her home in Zebulon Sunday morning at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Allen was in her usual good health until about 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon when she suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Allen is survived by two sons, D. S. Allen, who is sheriff of Pike County, and J. A. Allen, both of Zebulon two daughter Mrs. W. P. Brooks, of Athens, and Mrs. W. T. Akin, of Hapeville; two brothers, J. T. Baker and E. H. Baker, of Zebulon; and three sisters, Mrs. C. P. Jones of Hapeville, Mrs. E. E. Becham, and Mrs. James L. Wells, of Atlanta. Mrs. Allen was a pioneer citizen of Pike county and was unusually beloved by a wide circle of friends, who have been deeply grieved at her passing. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Zebulon of which she was a devoted member Monday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. J. S. Thrailkill officiated and interment was in the family cemetery at Reedsboro, with F. S. Pittman funeral director, in charge.
