Funeral Is Held Here Today for Rev. Mr. Brindle

Griffin Minister Passes After Long Illness At Home Here

Impressive funeral services for Rev. D.A. Brindle, well known Griffin minister 
and evangelist, were conducted from the First Christian church here this 
afternoon at 4 o'clock.
Rev. Charles B. Holder, pastor, and Rev. J.S. Hill, pastor of the Griffin 
Circuit Methodist churches, officiated.  Interment was in the Hollonville 
cemetery with Frank S. Pittman, funeral directors, in charge.
Pallbearers were B.B. Brown, Alton Williams, J.W. Anderson, W.W. Shannon, J.H. 
Word and J.W. Touchstone.
Rev. Mr. Brindle died late Wednesday afternoon at his home on Thirteenth 
street, following a lingering illness.  He was 73 years of age.
Born and reared in Winston-Salem, N.C., Rev. Mr. Brindle moved to Griffin 40 
years ago and made his home here since that time.  Formerly an active 
minister, in recent years he had devoted most of his time to evangelistic work 
in Georgia and in North Carolina.  Each year he returned to the scene of his 
boyhood days to conduct revival services near Winston-Salem.  He frequently 
conducted services in churches in Spalding county, at Conyers, and elsewhere.  
Loved by all who knew him, he has many friends who regret to learn of his 
death.
Surviving are his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Mattie Belle Coggin 
of Hollonville; three daughters, Mrs. L.L. Tucker, Jr., of Atlanta, Mrs. Roy 
Rawls, of Williamson, and Mrs. Robert Hammond, of Griffin; and one sister, 
Mrs. W.J. Shores, of Winston-Salem, N.C.
