Pitts Dies of Injuries Received When Hit By Auto Mr. Beauchamp Daniel Pitts, Route 1, Zebulon, died at the Strickland Memorial Hospital Saturday night as the result of injuries received when he was struck by an automobile earlier in the evening. The accident occurred on a country road about four miles out of Zebulon. Mr. Pitts is reported to have been walking on the road and to have stepped in front of the car, according to State Patrol authorities. Mr. Pitts, 42, was a painter and was making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Jim G. Buchanan. He had recently been discharged from the army. Funeral services were held this morning at 11 o'clock at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Y.Z. Gordy officiating. Interment followed in the churchyard. Haisten Brothers, funeral directors, were in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: I believe this to be one of the children of Milton and Flora Coker Pitts. Jim Buchanan would have been Beauchamp's 1st cousin. Jim Buchanan's mother being Emily Pitts, sister to Milton Pitts. On the 1910 census (which is after his father's death), Beauchamp is living with Charles and Emily Pitts Buchanan.
