Friends of Mrs. A.B. Shackleford, one of Griffin's oldest and most highly respected ladies, were grieved to learn of her death, which occurred at 11 o'clock Monday morning at her home, 522 West Broad street, following an illness of about one week. Mrs. Shackleford had been a resident of this city for over fifty years and was well and favorably known throughout the city and county, She was formerly Miss Matilda Ann Green and was born in Pike county. She was seventy-nine years old. She came to Griffin soon after the civil war. She was the wife of the late A.B. Shackleford, who was for many years a prominent citizen. Surviving the deceased are the following; Mr. J.H. Shackleford, Mr. S.E. Shackleford, Mrs. O. Collque, of Old Town, Maine, and Miss Maude Shackleford. Funeral services over the body of Mrs. Shackleford will be held at her late home Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. The obsequies will be conducted by the Rev. J.E. Sammons, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which Mrs. Shackleford was a consistent member. The interment will be made in Oak Hill cemetery. Funeral Notice The friends and acquaintances of Mrs. A. B. Shackleford, Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Shackleford, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Schackleford, Mrs. O. Colloque and Miss Maude Shackleford are requested to attend the funeral of Mrs. A. B. Shackleford from the family residence, 522 West Broad street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The following named gentlemen, cousins of Mrs. Shackleford, will act as pall- bearers: J. F. Green, J. A. Scott, B. N. Barrow, E. E. Ogletree, Dennis Touchstone and B. H. Moore. Additional Comments: Sometimes also listed as Shackelford. Matilda was the daughter of Mountain Hill Green and Polly McLeroy Green. Her late husband was Azmun Benson Shackelford.
