Mrs. Belle Coggins Goes to Reward

Mrs. Belle Coggins, 74, died at her home at 627 W. Taylor street Saturday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock after several weeks illness.  She had not been 
considered in a serious condition until Thursday when she developed pneumonia.
Mrs. Coggins was one of the best known and most beloved women in this 
section.  She was born in Pike county on August 13, 1855 the daughter of the 
late Mr. and Mrs. Green Jackson.  She lived in Hollonville for many years and 
after the death of her husband the late John L. Coggin she moved to Griffin 
where she had made many friends.
She is survived by three daughters Mrs. D. A. Brindle of Griffin; Mrs. J. 
Wayman Chaffin of Monroe; and Mrs. Tom Patton of Hollonville; one son Willard 
Coggins of Griffin and one sister, Mrs. Mollie Harrison, of Williamson.
Impressive funeral services for Mrs. Coggins were held Sunday afternoon at 
2:30 o'clock from the Baptist church in Hollonville, of which she was a life 
long member.  The Rev. L.M. Latimer, pastor of the First Baptist church of 
Griffin, officiated, assisted by the Rev. J.R. Espey, pastor.  Interment was 
in the Hollonville cemetery with Frank S. Pittman funeral director in charge.
Six grandsons of Mrs. Coggins acted as pall-bearers.  They were John Chaffin, 
J.C. Coggins, W.R. Coggins, O.R. Coggins, C.D. Coggins, and O.F. Coggins the 
last five sons of her late son, John Coggins Jr.
