Harwell Killed By W. Coggin Tuesday Two Williamson Men Fight to the Death with no Witnesses. Coggin is in Jail at Zebulon Benjamin M. Harwell, of Williamson, aged thirty six years, was shot and instantly killed Tuesday evening by Will Coggin, who used a shot gun charged with buck shot. There were no witnesses of the shooting and Coggin claims that the first shot was fired by the dead man. Immediately after killing Harwell, Coggin surrendered to the officers and was carried to the county jail in Zebulon. The trouble originated over the mowing of grass it is thought, on land that Coggin had rented to Harwell. The two men married cousins and are well known. Besides his widow, Harwell is survived by three children, Mrs. Ella Mae Sanders, Miss Willie Kate Harwell, and Roy Harwell. He was at one time a resident of Griffin and is well known here, being a brother to Joe Harwell and Mrs. I.B. Ruffin. The funeral took place at Mt. Gilead church at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
