Clarence Irvin, twenty-two years of age, was shot and instantly killed by his brother, Thomas Q. Irvin, near Hollonville, at an early hour Monday morning. From the best information obtainable it seems that there was an unfriendly spirit existing between Tom Irvin, who is married, and other members of the Irvin family growing out of the administration of the estate of the late T. J. Irvin by Tom Irvin, the oldest of several brothers, who was recently displaced as administrator. Roy and Clarence Irvin made their home with their mother and a few days ago a negro farm laborer moved from the farm operated by Tom Irvin to the one operated by the mother and her two younger sons. When Tom Irvin called at the home of his mother Monday morning with a shot gun the shooting ensued before a word was spoken, but it is believed that Roy Irvin was the object of his brother's wrath. Details concerning the killing are meager, as the tragedy was only witnessed by members of the family who have little to say concerning the occurrence. The deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. T. J. Irvin, six brothers, T. Q., Carlton, J. P., C. B. and J. H. Irvin, and three sisters, Mrs. Belle Chappelle, Mrs. Stella Hollaway and Mrs. Mamie McCoon. The funeral will be conducted at the Hollonville church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. D. A. Brindle conducting the obsequies.
