Friday, June 5, 1903 Mrs. T.J. Blasingame Dies On the morning of May 30th, Mrs T.J. Blasingame fell peacefully into sleep to await the sound of the voice described in the 4th chapter of 1st Thessalonians. Mrs Blasingame had been an invalid for a long time and for several days before the end came it was known that death was near. This was in some measure a preparation for the announcement which came at 5 o’clock Saturday morning, and yet no preparation could stay the tears of loved ones. The funeral service was conducted at the Baptist church Sunday at 10 o’clock a.m. by the pastor, Rev. Parry Lee. After the services at the church the body was accompanied to the cemetery, and as the casket was slowly lowered into the grave some version of “Nearer My God to Thee,” were impressively sung. All who knew Mrs. Blassingame loved her. She had been a faithful Christian and a member of the Baptist Church for more than 30 years. She leaves a husband, Judge T.J. Blasingame, and five children, Mr. Jas. C. Blasingame of Richmond, Va., R.D. Blasingame of Marietta, Ga., Mr. Jack Blasingame and Miss Lena Blasingame, of this place and Mrs. R.H. Coleman, Bainbridge, Ga. It is such lives as that of Mrs. Blasingame that prove the reality of the Christian religion, and its power to comfort and cheer amid the sufferings of this life.
