Miss Mary Ella Ballard, with whom Addie was living, was Emily Kate's daughter. Just another note which might interest some. While William Barnes Ballard, Jr. was too young to be in the Civil War, his older brother Elijah joined the 44th Georgia on 28 June 1862. Between that date and 9 April 1865 he was wounded 5 times. He was present at Appomatax Courthouse, Virginia and received a parole paper that stated that the bearer was "a paroled prisoner of the Army of Northern Virginia, has permission to go to his home, and there remain undisturbed." .....Lynn
