Friday, September 30, 1904 Death of Uncle George Ridley Mr. G.W. Ridley, familiarly known as "Uncle George" died at his home in this town last Saturday evening at five o’clock. He had been in bad health for some time and his death was not wholly unexpected. On the morning of the day of his death, he was uptown transacting some business and in apparently as good health as usual. He must have died in less than five minutes as his wife had just left him sitting up and returning in that length of time found him dead. Uncle George was a most excellent man, an affectionate husband, a loving father and a devout Christian. He was always kind and gentle to everybody, and had a pleasant word on every occasion. He had been a consistent member of the church from boyhood. He was seventy-one [years] of age and is survived by a wife and four children; Mrs. Carrie Wood, G.B., W.P., Owen Ridley. Memorial services were held in the Baptist church Sunday evening when several friends made talks eulogistic of his life and character.
