Pike County Times Zebulon, Ga. Friday, January 15, 1904

To The Memory of Mrs. Clara Edwards

Who died at the home of her parents, on the night of Dec. 24th, 1903. She was 
the eldest daughter of Mr. W.V. and Mrs. Julia Maddox. She was married in Nov. 
1900 to Mr. Jack Edwards, a prosperous merchant of Griffin, who with two 
previous little children, (a son 2 years old and an infant little daughter) are 
left without the sweet influence of wife and mother. In early life she united 
with the Methodist church. Her unselfishness and her consideration for others 
made her a comfort and joy in her home, and to all whom she knew. In every 
relation of life she lived the religion of Jesus Christ, to whom she gave her 
heart in the morning of her life. All who were so fortunate as to be brought 
into the circles of her friendship, feel that they have lost a friend indeed 
whose place can not be filled. But while we mourn our loss we may and should 
rejoice in her gain, for her redeemed, purified spirit, is now rejoicing in the 
presence of her Lord, whose she was, and whom she so faithfully served, and 
her "flesh" her mortal body, "rest in hope asleep in Jesus."

To her bereaved husband and her grief strickened father, mother, sister and 
brother, the sympathy of the writer with earnest prayers that Gods' grace may 
be sufficient for them in this dark hour. Jesus, our burden bearer help them 
bear this heavy burden. W.P.H.
