It is said that he had suffered a great deal from an ear affection and had been despondent for several days over his condition. This is ascribed by his friends as the reason for the act. He had breakfast early and about six o'clock is said to have walked out into the yard and placing a pistol to his ear pulled the trigger. Death resulted instant- aneously, it is said. Mr. Buchanan was about 55 years of age and is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. D.D. Scott and Misses Emma and Mittie Buchanan; two sons, Ullma and Zellner; three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services for Mr. Buchanan will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow at New Hope church in Lamar county, with Rev. G.R. Brown officiating and Frank S. Pittman, of Griffin, funeral director.
