Rev. R.W. Rogers Dies At Zebulon
Zebulon, Ga., April 9. - Rev. R.W. Rogers, age 78, died at his home here 
Monday after an illness of only a few days, though he had been in feeble 
health for several years. Rev. Rogers was born at Thomaston, Ga. He was a 
graduate of Washington & Lee university, receiving his diploma from the hands 
of General Robert E. Lee.

He had been a member of the North Georgia conference since 1875 and served 
many churches in many parts of the state. He was president of Reinhardt 
college from 1896 to 1901.

He is survived by the following children: Miss Lois Rogers, Wesleyan college; 
Colonel Edwin Rogers, Ashburn, Ga.; Mrs. M.E. Tillery, Atlanta, Ga.; Emory A. 
Rogers, Atlanta, Ga., Miss Elizabeth Rogers, Columbus, Ga.; R.W. Rogers, 
Atlanta, Ga.; Miss Miriam Rogers, Zebulon, Ga.; and Mrs. A.A. Rogers, of 
Columbus, Ga.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Zebulon Methodist church Tuesday 
morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. John Jenkins, of Macon, assisted by Rev. L.M. 
Twiggs, presiding elder of the Griffin district; Rev. Barton, pastor of The 
Rock, and Rev. E.B. Collings, pastor of the Zebulon Baptist church. Burial 
will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Barnesville, Ga. [Transcribed 2/28/2007 Lynn
