Reeves, age 81, died November 19, 1948 Pike County Journal, November 25, 1948: Funeral Services Held For Mr. Walter Reeves Funeral services for Mr. Walter J. Reeves were held at the Zebulon Baptist Church Sunday afternooon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. W. E. Joiner officiated and burial was in the East View cemetery with Haisten Brothers in charge. Mr. Reeves, a prominent farmer of the County, died at his home Friday night after an illness of only a few hours. He was a member of the Pike County Board of Education for approximately 25 years, having retired from that office in 1946. He was a member of the local chapter, Woodmen of the World and of the Zebulon Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Dr. Hoyt J. Reeves, of Atlanta; one son-in-law, Thurman Estes of Union City and one sister, Mrs. Ella Beckham.
