Sasser Dies After Long Illness Mrs. Joseph Arthur Sasser, of 401 Ponce de Leon avenue, died Friday morning at 11 o'clock at a private hospital here after a prolonged illness. Mrs Sasser, before her marriage was Miss Carrie Ballard, daughter of the late Mrs. Cornelia A. Green, of Senoia, and step-daughter of Judge Hartford Green. She attended high school in Senoia, Ga., going later from there to the LaGrange Female college where she proved exceedingly talented in literature and also won several medals in music. She was graduated from the college, sharing highest honors with as classmate. Her education was completed with a post-graduate course at Peabody in Nashville. Mrs. Sasser was a leading factor in religious, charitable and educational work in Senoia, and upon moving to Atlanta many years ago devoted much of her time to like activities, until her health failed. She was a member of St. Marks Methodist church, a member of the D.A.R. and a member of the U.D.C. She is survived by her husband, J.A. Sasser, a well known Atlantan, one son, J.A. Sasser, Jr., and a first cousin now residing in Atlanta, Mrs. Effie Bloodworth Butner, the wife of F.M. Butner. Services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence, 401 Ponce de Leon avenue. Rev. W.L. Buren of St. Marks Methodist church, conducting. Allen, with Josiah Allen, was made legal guardian of Carrie S. Ballard, orphan child of D.G.S. Ballard, deceased. Granddaughter of John Cunningham Allen and Mary Jackson, his wife. Gr-granddaughter of Clement Allen and Nancy McKissick, his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of Drewry Allen and Elizabeth Yarbrough, his wife. Drewry Allen (1749-1826) served as a soldier in the North Carolina line. He was born in Orange Co., N. C.; died in Pike Co., Ga.
