Strickland, died at her home in Concord last Friday after a serious illness of six weeks. She was 68 years old and had lived in the community in which she died all her life. She was Miss Julia Beckham before her marriage, the oldest of a family of seven children. She was a sister of Mr. R.Y. Beckham of this place, Taylor Beckham, G.D. Beckham, and J.T. Beckham of Concord, her brother J.T, having been buried the day before her death. Mrs. Strickland was noted for her goodness and kindness and was loved by everybody who knew her. She is said to be one of the best that ever lived. She leaves two daughters, Misses Mary and Alma who have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their mother. Her funeral was preached by Rev. T.S. Edwards of this place and the interment took place in old Hebron cemetery. (Transcribed by Lynn Ballard Cunningham 9/6/02)
